Social Media Bullying

Social media bullying, also known as cyberbullying, can occur through a variety of online platforms and services. Students should be aware that bullying behavior may take place through:

  • Internet websites with free registration and ease of registration, where users can quickly create accounts and communicate with others.

  • Internet websites offering peer-to-peer instant messaging, including services that allow private or direct messaging between users.

  • Internet websites offering comment forums or sections, where individuals can post comments, opinions, or responses that may be used to harass, threaten, intimidate, or humiliate others.

  • Internet websites offering image or video posting platforms, where users can share, view, and comment on photos, videos, or other visual content that may be used to bully, embarrass, or target individuals.

Bullying conducted through any of these online forums is prohibited and may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with school policies and applicable law. Students are encouraged to report incidents of social media bullying to school officials, parents, or guardians and to preserve any evidence of the conduct when possible.
